Life adventures, stories, and fumbling through failures toward successes.

Motivation: Cancer

Last year (2020) I was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Yep...Bone cancer....good times.

As the cancer train started, I felt a need to leave something for my daughter. In my own words. So I recorded a "Plan B" video.

The video was awful.

Due to stress, uncertainty, and juggling medical appointments, the video was rushed, dark, and not at all how I want her to remember me. Not at all my usual vibe.

I promised myself: If I had the chance, I would record the video the right way.

So here we are! and that is why:

Cancer is the final motivator and catalyst compelling me to start 'Livin Freestyle'.

Motivation: Inspire

I often hear:

"Where did you learn..."
"What made you try..."
"Isn't ... dangerous."
and then
"I could never..."

The latter crushes my optomistic spirit and drives me to help people learn.

I humbly hope to be a positive influence and inspire others to learn, by sharing my adventures, successes, and failures.

I am NOT a genius, an olympian, particularly great at anything. If I do succeed I attribute it to:
  • Failing forward is a win in my eyes
  • I have a very strong work ethic and drive (I never sleep)
  •

    Motivation: Listen

I'd like to listen to your adventures and share in your excitement.

It wasn't until I witnessed someone eagerly sharing their stories that I realized how egocentric and stifling it can be. It wasn't malicious. They just wanted to share to and always had a story, always chimed in with it, and it always seemed crazier than the last one.

I believe I have easily been guilty of this.

As I've worked to improve this, I am pleased when I hear someone say "how did I not know that you...."

To continue those efforts and listen more, I am going to channel my stories through Livin Freestyle. Succinctly, I want to shut up and listen to your stories.

    The Plan

Goals over the next year (2022):
    • One new video each week.
      • These could be stories, current adventures, and various other shenanigans.
    • Live Stream 2 nights weekly
      • These will be game dev live streams that track the progress of the game I'm building.
A general note. The intent is to be and represent my true self so that the Little Rascal can look back and get a sense of who I am. I am not naturally an entertainer and imagine the content will be pretty dry. With the greater goal in mind, THAT IS OK!. If you do take the time to watch, thank you for spending some time with me.

I'd like to ask my friends and those who know me well to help me stay true to myself so all this is reasonably representative for the Little Rascal.
